Starbucks Disowns Its New Baby: Why?

It appears that Mauritz Escher’s confusing art is quite popular this week, especially in the world of advertising. The image above isn’t an advertisement for Starbucks coffee; rather, it signifies the conundrum the company has placed its customers, and non-customers, into with their latest offering.

15th Ave Coffee & Tea opened in Seattle in late July this year and is being touted as an independent local coffeehouse but the truth is that the place is run by big daddy Starbucks. Why Starbucks doesn’t wish to attach the its title to the coffee place and claim 15th Ave Coffee & Tea to be one of their own is the hot topic of debate for most individuals sucked in by coffee culture. Whilst most people believe Starbucks is intentionally misleading its customers in a bid to gain popularity and increase its clientele amongst people who loathe chains, others feel it is a timid gesture by Starbucks who’re merely attempting to revive the neighbourhood ambience offered by little coffeehouses.

15th Ave Coffee & Tea does not have the Starbucks title stamped on any of its beverages offered by the place nor on the place. Reviews by those who have been to 15th Ave show mixed emotions but one theme was common: there is no confusion about how the coffee tastes!
