Manifesto Club of London is worried that safety sign boards and safety over regulations is making the authorities look like a Nanny! They have identified some signboards which state the obvious and make the whole safety warning seem ridiculous and redundant. Come to think of it most warning boards everywhere reinforce the obvious assuming common sense does not prevail and people need to be warned.

See the pictures of warning boards collected from all over London by Manifesto club in the link below. What is worrying them is such over instructions will stop people from thinking on their own about their own safety. People will dumbly follow instructions and signboards everywhere and stop using their own instincts and judgments.

This is a serious concern. Are we becoming dumb enough to be told that rains will wet the seats or deep water can be dangerous for children or one must keep off the tracks on the railway stations? Do the authorities have to tell us how to behave?
Warning people to be cautious is of course duty of the concerned authorities. But this is becoming a case of being over cautious just like paranoid mothers or Nannies.
