Steve Ballmer, the CEO of Microsoft Corporation under whose guidance the company managed to score significant success with its flagship Microsoft Windows product. After the Windows Vista OS fiasco, Microsoft had indeed lost a great deal of consumer confidence and was left struggling to mend its reputation. However, with the launch of the all new Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, the users came back to the OS giant and the sales figures if the new OS are there to prove Microsoft’s mettle. In the year 2009, Mr. Ballmer confessed that, Microsoft’s Windows and Windows Live platforms did not have any president that would have taken care of these verticals and hence Steve had taken upon himself to elevate these products to a much higher standard.

The latest buzz from Microsoft is the all new Windows Phone 7 series, which is a serious upgrade from the struggling Windows Mobile 6 platform. However, even though Microsoft might have made significant advances with Windows Phone 7, yet it needs to convince the customers and partners of its reliability and success potential. Steve Ballmer is known to be a master of sales and under his supervision, if Microsoft is able to give a convincing sales pitch to the Windows Phone 7 edition, then it could in fact become yet another successful vertical for the company. But, Microsoft has been quite behind time, when it comes to mobile computing, where Apple Inc. and Google are creating a sensations with their products such as the Apple iPad, Google Nexus One and Google’s very own Google TV project.
