It’s a transport system you have dreamt of for your city. On road, and yet, with amazing carrying capacity. While trams have been phased out of many cities in the world, Alstom, a well known maker of high-speed trains and Citadis trams, has tied up with Stockholm Local Traffic department. And that is, to bring out an innovative public transport system called the Autonomous Tram for Stockholm city.
The tram is not only aimed at solving Stockholm’s neck deep traffic problems, but also give a new face to the Swedish capital.
What’s more, the tram can carry about 170 passengers with ease. For, it is a double-decker one. The innovative piece has been designed by Patric Petersson, is spacious, and is also user-friendly for its commuters.
Just how did Petersson achieve the spacious bit? He has removed many seats on the double-decker’s ground floor and created extra space for wheelchairs, prams and luggage. On the upper floor, is enough seating that offers a lovely view of the celebrated city.
The autonomous tram can effortlessly bring down the number of other vehicles on roads thereby helping bring down pollution levels.
