Well, this green innovation certainly needs to be lauded. Most cities and villages waste power by keeping streets lights on all through the night. It seems impossible an idea to plunge streets in darkness and make it unsafe for residents either. A certain German village has found a unique solution to the problem. The streets lights are kept off but residents can just make a call to get streets lights back. The trend is catching on and many small towns are opting to put the street lights off in the night thus saving energy and expenses.

This shows it doesn’t really need much to implement green ideas to save the planet from perilous future. Non renewable energy resources are depleting and renewable ones are still unaffordable, also we need to reduce carbon emission. Also there is huge financial crunch. So in all its high time we all pitched in to save the day and our future. And street lighting does consume much power and it’s a sheer waste since most towns sleep in the night. If residents have power to light the path they wish to tread on, why not?

I would certainly be happy if my neighborhood implements this and plunges into darkness. Trust me, night is awesome without lights. The moon and stars will make it all worthwhile.
