Sunbeam Tiger Concept Looks Better Than The Real Deal

The evolution of cars have taken them a long way but even today, when it comes to designing something that would awe and fascinate, designers tend to look back into the past and model their future dreams after the best of yesterday.

Design student Ryan Skelley from Coventry designed the concept car Sunbeam after the 1925 Sunbeam Tiger which made history at the time by breaking the land speed record. Celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Sunbeam Tiger, Skelley’s Sunbeam is an almost futuristic take of its ancestor. The Sunbeam is powered by a lithium-titanate battery pack and is visualised to hit 0-60mph in 2.3 seconds flat. The car can be completely charged in four hours and is highly energy efficient.

Taking the term energy efficiency further, the car is also constructed from eco-friendly materials; the chassis is recycled aluminium, the seats made in soy foam and covered with Biofabric, the tires are cornstarch and Hemp-fibre and even the shining look is achieved from eco-paint. Seems like Skelley thought of everything in making the ideal British car; now if only this could go into production.
