Portal fans know how easy it is to transport themselves to another desired location by teleporting themselves via a Portal. Having an Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device (ASHPD) makes it all the more easier to shoot yourself a portal whenever you need to get out of a tough situation.
Having dreamed of something like this most of my young life, especially every time I saw my folks, I’m filled with phlegm-coloured envy that emilyskeith has a real one. Apparently she needed this to accessorise her Aperture Science Test Subject costume and her boyfriend happily made one for her. The portal gun shoots out blue and orange light (just like the real thing) and also has an indicator light on top. The switch for the light is managed by a toggle switch near the handle. The attention given to the intricate detailing of the portal gun is more than just mind-blowing.
22 inches long and weighing 15lbs, the ASHPD replica will make emilyskeith look like Chell even if she wore a frilly gown from the 14th century! I bet there are many people who would like to get their hands on this. Creator of the Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device, reveal thyself and state thy price!
Update: The greatly admired creator of the portal gun is Volpin, currently working as a graphic designer and is a graduate from Savannah College of Art and Design. We are still waiting for you to state a price, Volpin!
Update 2: Harrison Krix (Volpin) sent us some extra information about the portal gun. It took him about a month to build and cost around $350 in materials. If you’re truly interested in getting your hands on a portal gun, Volpin might make one for you, at the right price (about $800). He’s also willing to ship to the UK, provided customs doesn’t declare an emergency. Then again, he’s booked till September building 6 other props on commission, but try your luck!
Portal gun specifications: powered by 9V battery, the gun is scaled to the height of the user, so the gun size would vary depending upon your height. The original prop made for Emily is 22” long (with claws), 10” high (with claws) and 7” wide. Images of the building process can be found at cosplay; those desiring pics of step by step building process, including wiring, are welcome to them (by request). One reason why Krix is hesitating to build another portal gun is because he wants Emily’s gun to remain special as the only one. Lucky girl!
Thanks for all the info, Krix!
