The attempt to clean up the earth of the foul toxins that humans are asphyxiating it with has reached the point where the same technology which has created the mess is being used to save the earth.
Peru has come up with a novel solution for clearing the air and the new project, termed Super Tree, has just gone to work at one of their most polluted cities, Lima. Created by Tierra Nuestra (Our Earth), the Super Tree works by ‘breathing’ in the air and combining the toxins in the air with water through thermodynamic pressure. The clean air is then pumped back out. Although the Super Tree currently costs about $100,000, it may be worth the price when we consider the fact that it is the equivalent of 1200 trees, cleaning the air for approximately 20,000 people. Only one Super Tree is currently working although about 20 more will soon be up and the country hopes to export it to other countries experiencing the same problem of air pollution.
Although the Super Tree does purify the air, the process gives rise to some byproducts. The process produces some non-potable water and mud which would have to be released into the sewer systems, creating more dirty water.
