The dominant wireless carrier in Sweden, TeliaSonera has announced the launch of the next generation high speed 4G communication network in Oslo and Stockholm, paving the way for high speed internet services on mobile phones and exceptional network coverage. The all new 4G services will provide the users with upto 100 megabits per second of wireless download speeds.
TeliaSonera is planning to release the new services to 25 other Swedish cities in the year 2010. The Long Term Evolution network that has finally seen the light of the day, in theory will be equivalent to a 100 Mbps speed of broadband internet, as against the 10 Mpbs that is provided to the users on the current technology.
As of now, Samsung’s GT-B3710 which is a USB modem is the only device that is capable of providing the 4G services and TeliaSonera is planing to expand its reach by offering an upgrade with HSPA 3G and EDGE (2G) in the first half of 2010.
According to Kenneth Karlberg (President, TeliaSonera),
“We are very proud to be the first operator in the world to offer our customers 4G services. The use of mobile broadband in the Nordic countries is exploding and customers need higher speeds and capacity. This is why we launch 4G services in both Stockholm and Oslo.”
