The worst in the case of Swine Flu isn’t over for the United Kingdom. In a recent report, it is estimated that, Britain will have to tackle about 100,000 new swine flu cases each day by the end of August this year, This new projection has driven the British health care establishment into overdrive as they would need a lot more than present to cope with the immense pressure that is about to hit the country and its resources,
As of now Britain has more than 7,447 confirmed swine flu cases and has recorded three deaths due to the virus so far. However, some many high level officials estimate that, many of the swine flu cases have gone unreported, therefore, the numbers could be far worse than than the official figures.

As far as the European Union is concerned, Britain is one of hardest hit countries in the continent in the case of the swine flu epidemic. To make matters worse, according to experts, the number of swine flu cases in UK could see an explosion as the virus has solidified itself in the country and also due to the fact that it is a relatively new strain, to which people don’t have any natural immunity.
In a statement, UK Health Minister Andy Burnham,
“Cases are doubling every week and on this trend we could see over 100,000 cases per day by the end of August.”
As of now. Britain is reporting more than 100 swine flu cases per day, that in itself is a testament to the growing threat of swine flu epidemic in the United kingdom. If this figure continues to rise, then Britain would have almost 6 million citizens infected with the virus, at an estimated 100,000 patients a day.
However, skeptics refute this ‘doomsday’ scenario and have questioned the government’s estimates. According to John Oxford (Virology Professor, Royal London Hospital),
“I don’t know how they got that figure. It seems like a lot of mathematical modeling and not too much common sense.”
