T-Mobile Sidekick is one of the few smart phones, that looks more like a gaming device and less like communication gear and is quite popular in the United States amongst users. However, the popularity of the phone and the services provided by T-Mobile for the particular handset have take a serious damage, since almost all Sidekick owners have lost their device data, including contact numbers, something that is extremely hard to live without.

The fault originated in the servers of Microsoft, where all the back up data was stored. Due to the failure of servers, all the data stored was wiped out, leaving millions without any means if retrieving their contact numbers and other information. Some troubled T-Mobile Sidekick owners who had been facing such outages for more than a week now, tried to restart their phones by taking out the battery. This in turn backfired, thereby erasing the information from the device and leaving the customers with no backup.

Both Microsoft and T-Mobile have assured the customers, that they are doing everything possible and have further announced the beginning of data recovery efforts. Though, how much would it help to retrieve the lost data, is yet unknown. The Sidekick handsets are developed and manufactured by Danger Inc., that was taken over by Microsoft in the year 2008. This particular handset is extremely popular teenage strata of mobile phone industry and is also known to be a celebrity favorite.
