Frankfurt Motor Show is round the corner and many are excited about it. Frankfurt can however hold while we focus on some of the amazing wild concept cars from what’s almost shaping up to be a European Tokyo Motor Show. Unfortunately, they never get materialized into production vehicles. Well, if you were asked to name your favorite unrealized concept car, which would you pick?

As for now, Dodge Tomahawk concept – a four-wheeled motorcycle featuring a 500 HP Viper V10 wedget underneath the seat is a favorite choice of many people. The vehicle can speed up to 350 MPH, which is virtually insane! The car looks very masculine and it will suit the best when a thug drives it. It’s car for the perfect blend of creativity and bravado, which unfortunately vanished after its brief appearance.

It is believed that the company sold ten of its non-running versions in the Neiman Marcus catalog for an insignificant fortune of $550K a pop. The irony is no functioning version was ever sold. It’s too bad that the car could never reach to the public. It would have been very popular among the bikers too because of its similar designs.

How about travelling in a car that has been designed by people all across the globe… and they are not even necessarily professional? That is the aim of the “C,mm,n Project” initiated by the Netherlands Society for Nature and Environment and this urban commuter that is fast taking an innovative shape and assuming a cool design is being constantly revamped and perfected by many all around the planet. C,mm,n (pronounced ‘common’) is an open source concept for sustainable personal mobility. That simply means that anyone can go and provide a valuable tip in its design and change the look of the car.

Part of the institute’s attempt at creating an urban commuting vehicle that is both clean and green by the year 2020, this fascinatingly futuristic car ensures that no idea- small or big- is lost out in the wilderness. The design of the car is freely available under open source licensing and this has allowed people to put their minds together and create a vehicle that is inviting, cool and contemporary. Open source automobile engineering… A concept you just cannot help but fall in love with!

Automobile lovers across the planet have little to frown about when it comes to the ‘green-tinged’ wings the industry has embraced and is flying on currently. This has only meant that cars and their concept designs are getting cooler, trendier and are embracing the futuristic ‘star-trek’ look with each passing day. The latest rendering of a concept car that has been penciled down by designer Tryi Yeh is a Nissan vehicle that is loaded with green features, clean energy and plenty of magnetism. The Motivity 400C runs on the principle of magnetic levitation, ensuring that it’s powerful, yet emission-free engine gives you a posh and pleasant ride.

The triangular shape of the 400C along with its clean and flowing lines ensure that you will not really need to expend much fuel to overcome drag. Its sleek aerodynamics, sizzling style and powerful drive combine to make it a potent package. There is still some delight for the purists though with its interiors and steering wheel crafted in a traditional fashion to give you the feel of driving a car… No joystick in this joyride!

Concept Cars can have really crazy design and most of them vary in a spectrum whose one end is unrealistic future models that need no roads to move around and the other end is old ripped off car remakes that still seem to be stuck in the late 70’s. Designing a concept car is by no means easy and it seems every designer is going out of his way to give it some unique feature that helps it stand out from the crowd. The Volkswagen Rocca is another hallucination from a designer which will never come to life for sure. But its unique mix of metal with wood has really caught our eye and impressed us to an extent.

The Volkswagen Concept Car sports a wooden hood and a wooden roof that is so well matched with the metal bodywork of the car that it actually looks more classy than weird. This of course is not a new marriage of vividly different materials as the best yachts and luxury cruises in the world use the exact same combination. The long drawn out look also adds a touch of regal elegance to the design. It is almost like a stretch limo for Pinocchio!

The car’s extended design is apparently to protect the engine in case of a collision. The luggage space is actually in front of the engine ensuring that the engine sticks in the middle safely. So what happens in a rear end crash? You lose your life, that simple. But we somehow still like the design for its sheer imagination. Very charming indeed!

The Morey Concept Car seems both exciting and limited in its design and application, but this is surely one concept car that can steal the show with its sheer looks. Like many other concept cars that are designed for the future and destined to remain a blueprint, the Morey Concept seems more unrealistic while it draws inspiration from the past and the sunny Southern Californian weather. It is not very often that car makers design a car without roof these days. Add to that fact that Morey does not even have a roof or doors! Just jump into the car and speed away. This pretty much seems like the Future is back to the Past!

Morey would work great as a design in the late 70’s and maybe even early 80’s, but you would have to be a real sport at heart to buy one of these in this time and age. While Morey is dubbed as a racing car with organic shape, it is hard to even have a racing car like this at any point in the future. With all the safety rules coming in, the car does not really stand a chance. Apparently the car can hit 0 to 62 in less than 4 seconds while the top speed is not known for now.

Morey Concept looks pretty alluring as a concept street car rather than a race car. Conceived at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hannover, Germany, Morey needs a lot more work to be done on it before ever making it to the productions stage.
