If there is something about quaint European towns that make them almost wondrous, they are the narrow cobbled streets which look so awesome. However, cleaning these pretty streets can be a problem as garbage trucks cannot wade through narrow streets. Thus, the European Commission has funded $3.9 million for the Dustbot project.

The Dustbot is a midsized robot that can manoeuvre itself and collect garbage and also analyze the surrounding air. It measures sulphur oxide, benzene, nitrogen oxide and other such harmful chemicals in the air. It comes with a touch screen which allows the user to tell what kinda garbage he is being given.

Vetro for glass, Carta for paper, and many others like that. It can even be “summoned” by sending an SMS when you want your garbage to be disposed. Of course, Dustbot is “clever” enough to “remember” the residents through some kind of id it generates thanks to its robotic mind. It cannot however navigate through crowded streets and may require further development for that to happen. Nevertheless, it is a damn good concept!
