The Argentine government has issued its latest confirmation on the number of dengue victims in the country: 10,594 cases. NGOs claim, however, that the number of people affected by the disease is much higher than what the government has disclosed as the disease has spread to urban centers such as Buenos Aires.

Government authorities and residents of the city of Santa Cruz in Bolivia engaged in a massive operation to combat the dengue epidemic which has claimed 21 victims thus far. The most virulent outbreak is now being recorded in Santa Cruz where 40,000 people have contracted the disease.

The World Health Organization has confirmed that more than 3,000 people have died of cholera in Zimbabwe.
