A study done by Andrew Dessler of Texas A&M University and Steven Sherwood of New South Wales University suggested that water vapour contributes to global warming.

Water vapour adds to one degree Celsius to the global warming process when one does activities that release vapour. This has been a long debated topic among many scientists. Some are of the view that this is indeed a possibility as water vapour itself is a greenhouse gas.

The excess heat production due burning of fuels or due to other human activities has led to a considerable increase in evaporation. This in turn has been a contributory factor of the global warming. Dessler asserts that the process is s vicious circle. Warmer temperatures have increased the atmospheric humidity and this in turn has led to more warming in the earth.

Research suggests that the earth will further be warmer by two to four degree Celsius in the next century. The environmental hazards of the greenhouse effect are already being faced with extremes of temperature, drought, floods, etc. Its time for everyone to watch out their energy consumption pattern if they wish their next generation to see the earth as it is today.

A simple idea can change lives. We are talking about the solar fridge created by the 21 year old Emily Cummins as part of her school project. We hear, the fridge is now improving lives in Africa. And this isn’t the first time Cummins noble ideas have made a difference. Earlier too, she came into the limelight with her toothpaste squeezer for arthritis patients and the water carrying device.

The fridge in reference is sustainable and is based on the principle of evaporation. It is effective in storing perishable goods like milk and meat cool for days together at a temperature of 6 degrees; that is without using and power.

You will find two cylinders in the fridge, one inside the other. The inner cylinder is made from metal while the outer one can be made from anything at hand like even wood and plastic. Cummins said that her inspiration came from the human body itself; how we cool biologically We are impressed!
