Not many of us are lucky enough to live in hazardously cold regions where it snows at least during some months of the year. For those of us who can experience the pleasure of assaulting someone with a hardened snowball, it may also be as much of a curse. Imagine trying to commute through all that snow!

Snow may look like loads of fun but for people trying to commute on snowy roads, just a few metres can become more than a difficulty. Motorbikes would slide off the roads and snowmobiles cannot be used on just any terrain. Patrik Petersson offers the perfect solution for those buried under by the prospect of another layer of snow: the Kvant Motorbike. A hybrid bike made from the combination of a motorbike and snowmobile, the snowbike has a solo curving ski up front and a curved belt drive at the rear.

The designs for the concept bike looks awesome, Patrik Petersson is no rookie and is certainly talented in this area. Riding this beauty on the snow wouldn’t just be fun; it would be another level of extreme sports.

Here’s good news for the people who love doing extreme sports! We have just discovered “The VholdR ContourHD Recorder” – a video camera recorder that you can use to record your actions while doing your favorite extreme sports such as skateboarding, skiing or sky diving.

VholdR ContourHD comes in two video format – HD 720p at 30 fps and WVGA at 60 fps with lower resolution of 858 X 480. The additional features of VholdR ContourHD include a 2GB MicroSD card, which can support up to 16GB that will allow you to record up to 8 hours HD video. It can also record up to 16 hours of SD video. It’s easy to use. You can simply mount it on your sport helmet using the provided goggle mount or flat surface mount.

VholdR ContourHD will be available this month with a price tag of $280. This sounds a pretty good deal to me. You can also place your order in advance at Amazon. So, next time you are out to do your favorite extreme sport, do not forget to carry this recorder. I cannot wait to get one for myself.

The best way to increase your cool quotient and appear hipper than you actually are, especially if you are hitting that dreaded number forty, is to hit the streets on a pair of flaming red skates. Of course, you may eventually end up with half your teeth missing, but who cares about something minor like that when blemishes only add to desirability.

But if you’re still young and healthy, with all your teeth intact, then you may want to throw away your old pair of skates and truly explore your wild side with these electric skates. Designed by Matteo Gentile, these skates have an electric motor attached to give it the much desired hike in speed. Acceleration appears to be controlled with the foot via some unexplained mechanism. Taking inspiration from the young skaters in Barcelona who use skates for short commutes, Matteo’s design is a hybrid of a snowboard and skateboard.

The skates definitely look mean enough to get you into trouble, with its red wheels and furious looking coils. If you’re strapping into these for a short commute, make sure it doesn’t become your last.
