Diet Coke has come up with an unique green advertising campaign this time. Diet Coke has roped in New York based designer Patricia Field who has created a highly trendy urbane designer bag made from recycled coke (PET) bottles. There cannot be a better green message regarding urgent need of recycling.

The campaign is definitely targeted at fashion conscious urban elite and the bag will be given away free with two bottles of Diet Coke from Oct 22. Of course this designer bag (like rest all designer items) will be available exclusively at selected Boot stores in UK and stock is limited. The black bag which folds up and fits into a small pouch looks awesome and it is difficult to believe that it has been made from recycled Coke bottles. This is not the first time Diet Coke has roped in Patricia Field; she had previously designed Diet Coke City Collection and (Ugly) Betty Bottle.

Thanks to such initiatives green is in vogue and it will not come as a surprise if models start walking ramp in fashion shows wearing clothes and accessories made from recycled stuff. Recycling needs to be made fashionable and trendy but environmental message must reach out to the masses and not just to fashion conscious elite.

The design concept does give a sneek peak into the direction a luxury brand like BMW is likely to take in the future. The BMW will have efficient dynamics, active hybrid greener emission controls.

It is said that yacht like vehicle has a rigid sail so that it can draw energy from the wind, and the driver can control it from the cockpit. The driver’s entry into the cockpit however is the through the elevating windscreen of the sleek concept vehicle.

Such a vehicle would work best on plain surfaces with strong tropical wind, ideally deserts and beaches.

The myth of afterlife is carried by many religions and countries all over the world, and probably many of us have our own choices about how we would like to spend it. With rising concern for environmental issues all over, the thought of an eco-friendly burial is inspiring and fascinating. Powered by a three-cylinder turbodiesel and two electric motors this small car for the premium class shows no compromise towards design or technology making it just perfect for the future.

Capable of a 262 kW/356 hp output with a maximum torque of 800 Newton-metres/590 lb-ft, the hybrid features an all-wheel drive with an electric motor each in its front and rear. The car can be accelerated from standstill to 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds to run at a maximum speed of 250 km/h giving out CO2 emissions of just 50 grams per kilometer. Storing its energy in 98 lithium polymer cells, the car can travel approximately 50 km on electric energy alone.

The modish body design of this 2+2-seater compliments its dynamic performance and supreme efficiency with gullwing doors opening up to the side and techno-interiors. Not only are the engines and fuels green, but even the roof and door inserts made of polycarbonate glass involuntarily grow dark in response to incoming light. All-in-all, I would call it an extraordinary futuristic green concept.

The Dwell Development LLC has achieved the highest level within the Built Green Program- the 5-Star certification for its four modern, single-family eco-homes at the southeast Seattle neighborhood of Beacon Hill. Each measuring about 1,600+ square-feet, the four houses occupy the 1756, 1758, 1760, and 1762 of the 18th Avenue South. So, there must be a reason why these homes deserved the laurels! Here’s why…

The homes feature an array of eco-elements which include green roof planters; efficient envelope construction with EcoBatt insulation and on-demand hot water heater; natural, updraft cooling rather than AC; high-efficiency hydronic heating system; Energy Star appliances and heating equipment; urea formaldehyde-free insulation, cabinets, and trim, low-VOC/low-toxic paints for all interior surfaces. Not just these, a couple of these are garage less constructions that have 800 watt solar arrays on the roofs. The homes are also capable of 100 gallon water storage each. In addition, 90-95% of the construction waste had been diverted by Dwell Development during the building of the program.

All the four homes have been tested to be 32 percent more efficient than the system. In my opinion, a modern construction cannot be much greener and the constructions ought to have the certification they got.

London’s largest airport is looking forwards to the start of construction of its new Terminal 2 as per the plans designed by Foster + Partners and under development by Ferrovial Agroman and Laing O’Rourke’s joint partnership company HETCo. The Terminal 2 expected to cost around £1 billion would play the new domicile for the Star Alliance airlines.

Heathrow’s Terminal 2 being developed as a part of the £4.8 billion investment across the airport would have 185,000m2 of floor space that would provide an anticipated 20 million passengers every year. The new terminal is designed to emit 40% less carbon than the already existing ones. The large north facing windows on the roof would provide the building with ample natural light and also prevent the temperatures inside from rising too high. The solar panels on the roof will cut down on the buildings energy consumption. Besides, the heating and cooling system of the building would run on energy extracted from renewable sources.

This two phase construction expected to be ready by 2019 would not only give the airport an opportunity to provide better services to its customers, but also do good to the city’s power grid and environment.

Ace prefab constructor David Ballinger known for his work on presenting eco-friendly alternatives to traditional projects has emerged with MetroShip while he was making plans for altering his home in London.

The ship has umpteen green features like Sloan touchless water-conserving faucets, Solar-powered exterior LED lights, countertops made of recycled faux-granite acrylic, etc. A modern décor made using recycled frames and remnant fabric and the translucent thermal aluminum walls letting in natural light give its interior a high. It also has a fresh water tank and a high capacity tankless water heater.

Who wouldn’t love a dwelling wrapped around with scenery? An agricultural scientist, Chris Anderson and Claire Davenport wished for the same in their 10-acre wooded site an hour’s drive south of Adelaide. They laid the burden on South Australia–based architect Max Pritchard and this is what they finally got- a stunning Bridge House. Straddling a creek, the house stands on four small concrete piers anchoring two steel trusses and satisfies all the prerequisites for a home sweet home.

Precoated steel panels drape the walls and roof made of plantation pine. The double-glazed floor-to-ceiling windows provide ample winter sunlight to heat up the black concrete floor slab and in case it falls short, the wood combustion heater would take over the job. The operable windows, ceiling fans and the pressed steel louvers on the north aid ventilation and shading. The water used inside the house comes from the roof, which collects it. The house lights up using the electricity the photovoltaic cells on the roof generate. The wastewater is pumped down to 300 feet below the ground level.

The Beach House cost about $220,000 Australian (around $177,000 U.S.) to take shape and bagged an award from the Australian Institute of Architects (South Australian Chapter). The house would surely give its inhabitants the pleasure of nature and a green life away from the pacing urban world.
