However, they function differently. Sticky is a hooded leather dress, which is designed to constrict the movements of the wearer’s arms using retractable cables. The sleeves are tethered to the chest and it forces the arms to produce energy to move, and it further powers the blue LED forms hidden in the pockets.

Stiff as the name suggests pretty much makes your movements stiff. It has a large back brace that runs from the waist and spreads up to the hood. When the brace is pushed, it produces ample energy to activate the MP3 player, which is installed in the hood. It plays “conflicting soothing messages.”

The Itchy, which is a tailored dress, is decorated with large wool necklaces. The oversized hoops irritate the wearer so much that he/she starts to fuss with them. This produces enough energy to turn on the LED lights installed in one of the necklaces. The trick is to produce more energy the more the wearer fidgets more with the necklace. These human-powered dresses are quite interesting but it doesn’t look very comfortable to wear daily. Hence, the purpose is likely to be defeated.

Kinoma Inc has just unveiled their super cool media player which is a new version of their multimedia playback environment called “Kinoma play”. It comes with not only playback facility but also social networking services such as twitter and Facebook.

It supports a camera and you could access Flickr. It uses Windows Mobile for OS and you can even access online stores, play videos, use You Tube and costs a throw away $29.99. If applications can become so cheap, I wonder how all the geeks make their money. The Kinoma’s media player would be released in the third quarter of 2009.

There will also be a Japanese version for the booming Japanese market. However, Japanese people would have better products nonetheless. Kinoma nevertheless seems like a great media application that is worth buying. The greatest advantage is that it is cheap, and comes with a plethora of features and can be used with Windows Mobile phones, Toshiba TG-01 and others.

HiFiMAN HM-801 seems to be the most expensive audio player I have ever come across. It looks better and more stylish than the iPod and even the Zune does not match the style of this Audio Player. The high fidelity player comes with a modular amplifier and costs about $700. It has a weird modernist design that would not appeal to everyone.

However, I feel it looks strange and appealing though most people would find it tasteless, and that is because people never understand when a great design is out there. The player comes with a Burr-Brown PCM1704U digital-to-analog converter chip and a high end amplifier.

It comes with 3 big panels at the back and it also has a cool touch screen. In fact, it has two on the front. Though the panels look like buttons, they don’t function the way you expect them to.

It can sport a variety of materials which makes it a rather versatile product. However, like most unique designs it is still in the conceptual stage and it may take ages for this product to be developed and manufactured.

I would say, just wait it out till someone decides to mass manufacture this cool Soma and then you could get one for yourself. It looks as if you are flipping through vinyl records and when one of the sleeves is chosen, you can hear the music play out loud. Absolute fantasy!

MP3 players in various shapes and sizes have been made and enjoyed even today. Some have even been as big or small as credit-cards but the newest kid (please read ‘model’) on the block actually masquerades as a credit card complete with the typical pattern and numbers. However, Rhea Jeong says that the project was the result of a summer internship with Samsung. This means it is still not certain if “Colorsonic” would ever enter into the real world. However, if people welcome the idea then, perhaps it will happen.

Considering the nuisance that wrong music in the wrong mood can create, we must welcome this innovative change. Our moods can be rejuvenated with the right choice of music. And when “Colorsonic” can personalize our favorite genre of music depending on our moods, why not welcome it?
