Pakistan’s military operation in Swat Valley has been a success and Taliban have been reduced to few hundreds. But peace and normal life is still elusive in this picturesque valley. Many people were killed and hundreds injured in various deadly bomb explosions which rocked Baghdad today. The coordinated mortar fire and car bomb attacks were mainly targeted at all official government buildings including the most deadly one near Foreign Ministry. Israel has forcefully claimed two houses in East Jerusalem by evicting nine Palestinian families in the middle of the night. Jewish settlers have moved after Israeli police force carried out operation in the dark and evicted some 53 residents. UK government and UN have condemned the incident.

The battle and battle ground has finally shifted officially but the war seems to be far from over. As American troops began withdrawing from cities of Iraq one cannot stop wondering whether this is indeed the beginning of the end of a war that America had declared against terrorism.

Global Coalition for Peace’s anti Iraq war campaign too was a winner in Cannes Lion 2009. The public interest campaigns do deserve this kind of recognition and publicity. Most of social campaigns are done on non-profit basis by organizations that believe in the cause and need support for their good work.
