In order to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the MX-5, Mazda had announced the same car in a Crystal White Pearl Mica limited edition. However, Mazda has instead gone ahead and has launched a conceptual MX-5 Superlight speedster. The car is extremely light and it is very economical when it comes to fuel. It also releases very little CO2.

The car does not come with any wind shields, door handles and of course not even a roof. But then this is an open car and why on earth would anyone except a roof! It is not a convertible and comes with other luxuries as being able to support iPhone, since it is very common and popular these days.

At the moment, Mazda has not released much information about either of the two cars and one will have to wait for them to reveal more at Frankfurt next month. I would love to get this car for myself, as it is not only stylish but also very sleek and powerful.

Ferrari 458 Italia is Maranello’s latest wonder car. The fiery red automobile wonder is simply amazing and is sure to set the tracing tracks on fire. It would be unvei9led properly at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. It can break the 200 mph barrier and can reach from 0 to 62 mph in just about 3.4 seconds.

The 458 Italia is very fuel efficient and does not emit a lot of carbon. Thus, the car is quite clean and green. The engine comes with 7-speed dual clutch gearbox and the car weighs about 3,042 pounds. The car is amazingly fast and of course, if you can afford buying this, you really should not be thinking twice.

The sleek cuts and the chic lines make the car almost a fashion statement and that too with all the great specs. If you are a car freak and would like to know more about Italia 458, you would have to wait until the Frankfurt Motor Show in September when more information would be unveiled.

After an array of electric race cars hit the racing course, it’s the turn of hydrogen fueled cars now. RMIT researchers have unveiled Australia’s first ever hydrogen powered racing car in collaboration with Germany’s Fachhochschule Ingolstadt University of Applied Sciences. The car will bid for the title of world’s fastest hydrogen-powered racer in the Guinness World Records to be held in Germany early next year.

The futuristic racer runs on an internal combustion motorcycle engine that was customized to function on hydrogen and is expected to reach a speed of around 170kmh to grab the world record. Prof. Aleksandar Subic, Head of the School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering feels that the racer would prove the ability of renewable and clean hydrogen fuel to the automobile industry and upgrade the potential of green technology to change the world’s approach towards sustainable fuels.

Prof. Subic hopes that the car would one day stand first in a clean and green Formula 1 competition. This project has now shown a path for the launch of similar high speed sustainable racing cars for the future.

If you thought the recession is driving people crazy and making them scrimp their budgets, think again. IN the world of vintage cars and futuristic automobiles, there is no dearth of people who would spend obscene amounts of money in order to get themselves a cool car. Barret-Jackson Collector Car Event, which usually rakes in all the moolah by exhibiting and auctioning various rare cars, was expected to fare miserably this time.

However it shocked everyone to realize that perhaps it was this year that the auction could manage to make so much of money. As much as $29 million was made in terms of sales! The highlight of the event was the 1949 MG TC Roadster Race Car, which raked in $313,500. Apparently, it was driven by the legendary Carroll Shelby the first time he participated in a road race in 1952.

Looks like the recession will drive people to spend more, in order to drive away the bankruptcy blues. Many other cars were part of the auctioning event too, but the MG TC Roadster simply blew everyone’s minds and managed to take the center-stage in the event.
