Even with the withdrawal of U.S and British troops from Iraq, the country is till torn apart with the violence between Shiite and Sunni sects of the population. In the most recent attacks, a suicide car bomb ripped through a Shiite mosque in the northern region of Iraq on Friday. The horrendous attack claimed 37 lives, that included pilgrims and worshipers.

As attested by Article 113 of the Iraqi Constitution, Iraqi Kurdistan is the only region which has gained official recognition internationally as an autonomous federal entity.
