A bomb attack just shake again the center of Athens. It is another sign of the terror routine that affects the country since the outbreak of protests in December 2008, challenging the death of a teenager killed by a police officer.
The attack on Friday (3), severely damaged a building that housed offices of the Treasury and a Mc Donald’s. It is the tenth share of a large scale in a semester, assigned to groups that most of them show an ideology of extreme left. In 2008, about six actions of the same type targeted in particular the police, government agencies and banks.
Pending a claim, the police believe that the attack has been given by the Revolutionary Fight (EA, acronym in Greek).
Included in the blacklists of the United States and the European Union, the EA signed thirteen attacks since its creation in 2003, including an impressive rocket attack in the 2007 against the American embassy and another with machine against the police in January in Athens.
Another group, the Revolutionary Cult is not involved with ideological considerations and merely want to reach any holder of authority, police or journalists.
Researchers and analysts are lost in conjectures about the links that unite or not, these two groups as well as other formations that appear sporadically. They worry about their aggressiveness, and risk of imitation, with the backdrop of the economic slowdown and rejection for a political class incapable of fighting corruption and patronage.
