The 2009 Chrysler 200C Concept EV

Chrysler once again proved it’s adeptness with the latest 200C EV concept car, which seems to be a perfect blend of fashionable design and range-extended electric vehicle drive system.

As Chrysler’s previous Chevy Volt did, 200C assures a 40 mile all electric range that would be complemented by a gas engine. The engine is not a part of the drive train but it would instead power a generator to recharge the batteries, and broaden the range of the motor increasing the total effective range on a full tank of gas and a full battery to about 400 miles. The concept swanks Chrysler’s uConnect communication/computer system that enables you to control temperature, track your car’s location through your iPhone, controls door locks and an in-cabin camera.

Chrysler expects to lodge either the ENVI EV extended range power train or the new Phoenix V6 gasoline engine for 200C. Taking Chrysler’s financial position into contemplation, we cannot expect when this concept would exactly take shape and hit the roads, but something makes me feel the car would be a hit. And why shouldn’t it be? After all, it is an extended-range luxurious green car from an ace car company.
