Americans know too well that it is the power of the middle class that sways a nation. The few rich are complacent enough not to lift a finger, while the poor are too busy scrounging for a living. The all-important function of the middle class is the reason why US incoming VP Joe Biden is put in charge of strengthening the ranks of the middle class of America. The institutionalization of the effort via pertinent mandates is meant to make sure that the middle class will no longer be ignored. And Biden wants to be right in the forefront as well as in the thick of making the American middle class strong and economically functional.
Obama, it should not be forgotten, is a legal functionary in corporate America. He is more inclined towards economic tactics than the military strategies of his predecessor. If Dick Chaney was into invading countries for oil, Joe Biden would be working internally and strengthening the capabilities of the American people.
The American middle class, though an inconcrete and informal term, is composed of one-fourth to more than half of all households in the US. College education is what the middle class have. Because of this, they enjoy a more comfortable living standard. They are economically more secure. They have a fair control of the kind of work they wish to have. Their existence and sustainability largely depends on their skills and expertise.
In other words, the US during this time of global economic meltdown has stopped trusting and taking care of the rich. The Obama administration has chosen to focus on the people who earn for a living, have expendable incomes, and will surely spend.
