The company behind the incredibly innovative concept, the ‘Flying Cars’ or more commonly known as the roadable aircraft has now come out with computer generated concepts and a scale model of an all new vehicle called, Transition. With the help of these mock ups and models, the company says that, it is quite confident about Transition going to the production line by latter half of the year 2011.

In the year 2009, Terrafugia had conducted a successful test flight of the Transition at the Plattsburgh International Airport in New York and gained immense insight into the requirements of the vehicle, and have now provided the necessary adjustments to the roadable aircraft. The Transition will offer its occupants an entirely touch control based cockpit interface and the vehicle’s wings have also been upgraded, where in the wings can now retract, when the vehicle in on the road. The Transition will run on conventional gasoline, there by not creating compromise on the speed of the fly car and the vehicle itself will able to cruise at about 115 miles per hour in the air.

According to Anna Dietrich (COO, Terrafugia),

“We’re not going to have a flying car, as people think of it, for a while. I would never say it’s not going to happen, but today, the infrastructure is not there, nor is the training, nor are the avionics that would make the training unnecessary. What makes sense right now is a ‘roadable’ aircraft.”
