Health is a major issue in the US (in fact, everywhere except in India). While the National Health Insurance takes time to be a part of everyone’s life, there are 2000 mobile health clinics in the nation that offer basic medical care at extremely affordable rates or sometimes even free of cost to those who need it. So how do they achieve such a noble process to function undeterred? Well, the docs using inexpensive, portable screening tools and employ certified staff that is well trained in basic medical services.

The Newsweek tells that there is a particular non profit clinic called the Family Van which has been running for 18 years now in affiliation with Harvard Medical School. This means that the concept of the mobile health care clinic has been there for quite some time. It’s just that the inspiration took a pretty long time to influence the others.

Experts find that such med vans play a very significant role especially in the times when the health care reform law seeks to expand while controlling health care costs. Apparently, the need is most acute in Massachusetts where the spending on health care has increased by a huge 52 per cent since the major health reform in 2006.
