Corsair, specialized company in high-performance computer memory, cannot brag of having the first pendrive of 128 GB to arrive to the market (the merit is from Kingston, in June), but until the moment nobody ribbon of Corsair the title of the fastest pendrive of 128 GB, conquered by the model Flash Voyager GT 128 GB.
According to the company, the new pendrive uses a system with two USB controllers. “The 128GB Flash Voyager GT is able to achieve read speeds of up to 32MB/sec and write speeds of up to 25.6MB/sec, with the limiting factor effectively being the speed of the USB 2.0 bus and operating system overhead” according to Corsair. The main limiting factor in the performnce is not the pendrive itself, but the USB 2.0 connection and the processing load in PC, Corsair says.
In agreement with Jim Carlton, vice-president of marketing of the company, the new Flash Voyager GT is until twice faster than competitive with the same capacity. The pendrive is rubber housing and it is resistant to the water and occasional impacts.
The Flash Voyager GT 128 GB can already be found in distributors of the Corsair products in the USA, and it comes with the 10 year-old manufacturer’s warranty. The average price is US$ 400. There is no forecast of official release in other countries.
