New York City’s Upper East Side now boasts of the First LEED certified condo in the locality. Price estimated to be starting $2 million; this luxury condo comprises 110 units, the smallest among them measuring about 2,000 square feet. Questioning why this expensive building was certified by LEED, this is the answer you get…

The building has several green features which need a mention. The whole edifice is enclosed in glass which will provide natural light during the day. Sustainable materials like bamboo and cork were used while constructing it. Three- fourths of the waste generated in the construction site would be recycled and rainwater would be used to dampen the land around. The roof is pale colored, so doesn’t absorb much heat thereby keeping the rooms underneath cool. There is also rooftop gardening for the same purpose. Lucida also has an air filtration system which keeps only fresh air in the building. The condominium also has services like playground, fitness center, etc.

Each of the units is roomy and skillfully planned and anyone would love to live in these 2 or 4 bedroom units. The only drawback it has is it is not affordable by an ordinary family. However if anybody’s looking for a stylish apartment and ready to spend a fortune on it, then just have a look at this.
