For the first time in history, the Firefox browser in November exceeded the rate of 20% in that specific market. According to data from research company NetApplications, is the first time the program from Mozilla is above 20% over a month.
In November, Microsoft Internet Explorer led the market for browsers, with 69.77% of the preferences of Internet users – a drop of 1.5 percentage point compared with the previous month. Firefox, in turn, holds 20.78% of market share, followed by Safari (7.13%) and Google Chrome (0.83%).
The director-general of Mozilla, John Lilly, credited the rise to the community that uses the browser, which are very loyal.
“Getting to 20% on the world market of internet is an important milestone for the Mozilla Firefox [the famous foundation responsible for the browser]. A few years ago it was considered impossible, and the global community of Mozilla is responsible for this success,” said.
Firefox had an increase of 0.8 percentage points in November, the number considered above average and can be attributed, among other factors, to the U.S. presidential elections.
