Kim Jong-il

A few weeks ago, rumors had it that Pyongyang was trying to import medical equipment for Kim Jong-il whose health was reportedly deteriorating rapidly. His doctors reportedly also asked to be provided with an emergency helicopter. At 67 years of age, Kim’s disease appeared to have been serious. A recent media image shows him to have greatly aged, gaunt, and frail.

Kim is also said to be suffering from diabetes and heart problems. Severely affected by a stroke last summer, Kim Jong-il walks with much difficulty.

Will Kim Jong-il survive these new rumors about pancreatic cancer that is not detected until it has reached its worst and final stage?

Until Kim officially confirms his terminal illness, the governments of the United States, South Korea, and Japan are rest assured that North Korea still remains a nuclear threat since that is precisely how Kim wants to control the system.

With the news that Kim had 77 visits to factories and agricultural cooperatives in June as part of his famous ‘spot checks,’ as compared to only 49 during the same month last year, one cannot help but think that this rumor of a terminal disease isn’t the first time that Western media ‘kills’ Kim.

Kim Jong-il’s youngest son, Kim Jong-un, is poised to succeed him as North Korea’s leader.
