The Playful Side of Childhood Behavioral Problems

child The Playful Side of Childhood Behavioral Problems

Childhood depression can be a result of ADHD and these two conditions are linked closely. However, labeling never seems to help and what children need is affection, time and most importantly space.

Allowing them to play in their own space can be extremely therapeutic and psychologists call this “play therapy”. The boy suffered from mild depression and anxiety, also some amount of hyperactivity. Much of his infancy and early childhood passed uneventfully and never liked to go to school and that affected his performance.

Moreover that is when he was brought to the clinic for the first time, due to bad academic grades and missing classes. The boy was at times hyperactive and after his absence was reported, he was taken to the clinical psychologist. After a few sessions of play therapy and counseling, the kid was able to perform better in school.

It was found that the parents over reacted too, and they needed counseling as well. Thus, parents may first need to introspect if the problem lies with them or their children. Allowing them to play without being too hard, or being too “strict” could just be the home remedy for childhood behavioral issues. If there is a doubt, a visit to the psychologist would certainly help.
