plastic pollution The Surfrider Foundation Video Shows The Hazards Of Plastic On Aquatic Life

The threat to the marine life, the organisms and animals who thrive in the rivers, seas and oceans of our planet are known to be in a great deal of danger, due to the illegal dumping of toxic materials, that range from chemical, radioactive waste to plastic. As a picture is worth a thousand words, The Surfrider Foundation has now released a brand new video that aims at further bringing the cause to more and more people across the world. This organization has taken upon itself to educate the world of the incredible hazards posed by the dumping of plastics in the water bodies.

The video is part of the foundation’s Rise Above Plastics project and displays an ocean full of plastic bottles and other plastic materials. The ocean in the video is covered from the bottom to the top and a whale that is struggling to breathe due to the toxicity, jumps out of the “ocean of bottles” and dies. Although the entire clip is just 30 seconds long, yet it capture the dire consequences of man’s arrogant behavior towards nature and the damage we are causing to the aquatic life, as the video suggests that, 1.5 million marine animals die each year because of plastic dumping.

Even the United Nations agree to the impending threat to marine life because of the plastic accumulating in our oceans. As per a U.N report, at any given time, there are 46 thousand pieces of plastic covering every 2.5 square kilometers of ocean surface.
