The Warrior 700: A Powerful Robot by iRobot

iRobot is working on their new “Warrior 700 robot“, which looks like a bigger version of their PackBot. Besides being larger, the Warrior 700 is also more powerful. It can carry a PackBot at the end of an articulated arm, and insert it through a window for reconnaissance, explosive ordnance disposal, rescue, or other missions. The Warruor 700 is so similar with the PackBot that it can maneuver across rough terrain, climb stairs, and also ford streams just like the PockBot.

However, the difference is that the Packbot has a payload capacity of 46lbs (20.9kg) whereas the Warrior can carry 150lbs (68kg).This means it has enough power to drag a person with an average weight. Designed for tougher tasks like explosives disposal, route clearing, and surveillance, the Warrior 700 is rather cumbersome.

It can speed up at a maximum of 9.3 mpj (15 km/h). This is in fact quite great for a robot that weighs just 342.5 lbs (155.3kg). The iRobot Warrior will be available by the third quarter of 2009. It is still in the process of its development. The Warrior 700 is a good example of advanced digital architecture.
