Leonardo Da Vinci, one of the rare geniuses of all times is remembered for his greatest painting “Mona Lisa”, which till today continues to inspires many artists. The world’s smallest Ornithopter, which has been named after the genius is apparently inspired by his late 15th century’s drawings.

The ornithopter is as small as a ruby-throated hummingbird. It can sustain flight by flapping its wings 40 times a second. It doesn’t require propellers or rotors like the ordinary toy aircrafts. It comes with a digital proportional flight control that enables smooth turns, climbs, and dives with the dual stick remote. Although the ornithopter is miniature, its frame is rather sturdy, lightweight plastic, with tear resistant Mylar that covers the wings and tail. Its rechargeable lithium polymer battery can run for seven minutes after charging it for five minutes.

The ornithopter is only for indoor use and children above 14 years of age can use it. You can buy it for $59.95. More than anything else, it’s quite fascinating to learn that Leonardo Da Vinci’s drawings did actually influence the concept of this ornithopter.
