In one of the most hi-tech criminal cases in regards to stolen credit card information in Alachua County, Florida, authorities have uncovered a host of Bluetooth enabled devices, that are said to be used by thieves for the sole purpose of extracting credit card information from gas stations in the regions. These gas-station pump card skimmers are believed to be part of a single gang, that the authorities believe to have been operating from Miami.

The credit card skimming technique was first uncovered last week, when a maintenance worker at a Shell Station in Gainesville, Florida, reported the presence of a suspicious card-skimming device hidden in the gas station. Since then, the local authorities and the U.S Secret Service have been working around the clock to unfold this string of electronic crime and the Sheriff’s office is currently in the process of inspecting numerous gas stations at the I-75 highway. Authorities are also suspecting internal involvement from gas station employees, as the thieves would need access to the gas station to put in place the card skimming devices.

The thieves are said to be taking the credit card information from these gas station with the help of Bluetooth devices, that transmit the data, to the thieves. As of now, there is no certain information as to the number of credit cards fraudulently used by this gang, with the help of the card skimming devices.
