Considering becoming a mad scientist just so you can create something that can take you back in time to the era of your desire? Find yourself hiding away bits of wires and components of other electrical devices to make your own time machine? Perhaps, you needn’t try so hard now.
The Time Machine Radio may not take you back to the time when a T-Rex could bite your neck off but it can turn you wistful and melancholic for years long gone by. Replacing the frequency scale of a traditional radio is a time scale and once you turn the knob to choose the time period you wish, the radio will automatically start playing you music from that era. You even have an option to select news or opt for radio theatre if classical music isn’t your cup of tea. The GUI for the Time Machine Radio has been designed by Niels Clausen-Stuck and Alex from CIID. The prototype for the ‘time machine’ is made from an Arduino board connected to an Asus Eee 901 notebook half-hidden so that only the display is visible.
The Time Machine Radio was originally designed with the elderly in mind but the interest generated over the net shows how popular the concept is amongst youngsters also. So, get ready to tune away and hum to the lilting tones of a Chopin melody.
