Christmas has finally come and everybody is making merry on this joyful day with great effervescence! However, this year, the Carla Bruni-Sarkozy Foundation decided to keep the spirits of the festive season in a different way. The foundation recently held the 14th annual “Les Sapins Noel des Createurs” (Designer Christmas Tree) Charity Auction in Paris France on the 8th of December, 2009.
The auction witnessed 24 Christmas trees all designed by the top most couturiers, architects and designers. All of them came forward to contribute their bits towards a good cause. The profits earned from the auction directly went to the foundation for Sol en Si, to help the hospitalized children affected with AIDS. The event took place in the museum of the City of Architecture and Patrimony in Paris and it hosted more than 1000 guests.

Some of the noted artists themselves like Mireille Darc, Jean-Paul Gaultier and Nathalie Rykiel attended the event with a great joy appreciating each piece of art auctioned. The trees were designed by some of the noted designers such as; Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Ora Ito, Jean Paul Gaultier, Stella McCartney, Thierry Mugler, Marité & François Girbaud, Sonia Rykiel, India Mahdavi, Christian Ghion, Isabel Marant, Jakob+Macfarlane, Louis-Marie de Castelbajac, DSquared, Olivia Puttman, Mireille Darc, Paco Rabanne and architect Christian Beicher. It’s very encouraging that these great artists actually sacrificed their creation for a good cause.
