The energy drink Red Bull has been banned in six states in Germany after traces of cocaine was found in it. Red Bull cola is an energy drink that is well known to give you that extra pump in your energy. The drink faced a ban after samples were tested by officials in North Rhine Westphalia state. It was found that it had 0.4 microgram of cocaine per litre of the Red Bull drink.
Several other states have followed the league as well. Many shops have banned the sale of the drink mainly because of the fear of the violation of narcotic laws. The company manufacturing Red Bull asserted that coca leaves are used all over the world for flavoring and it is harmless. Moreover, it had conducted a test on its own and the Red Bull had no traces of cocaine.
The amount of cocaine found in the drink is too low to pose any health hazards. However, the Federal Institute for Risk Assessment in Germany would conduct a more detailed research on this issue and report on Wednesday.
