Trial of Aung San Suu Kyi Continues

aung san suu kyi Trial of Aung San Suu Kyi Continues

Burma’s military leaders are extending trial of Burmese leader and Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi and trying to dispel all the criticisms and making it all appear as fair trial. They have even allowed outside observers to attend the trial. But yet it seems to be futile attempt since the trial itself is unfair and unjust.

British Ambassador in Burma, Mark Canning, is attending the trial over weeks and putting his observations in his blog in Guardian. They are interesting notes coming from an outsider inside Burma.

The whole international media, Human rights activists, international agencies and the whole world in fact is a watching these court room proceedings and delay. More than outsider, the agitated people of Burma with whose support Aung San Suu Kyi won last elections are a mute witness to the trial.

Her own political party NLD cannot voice a protest. Recently they have been severely criticized by government for an internet posting about the trial. Government has put a gag on national media using the power of the Press and Publications Act. No wonder no news of atrocities, natural disasters or even accidents trickles out of Burma.

There is no end in sight for trial of Aung San Suu Kyi and the military Junta rule in Burma.
