The Turkish Airlines plane has crashed in Amsterdam’s Schiphol International Airport. There has been nine deaths, 84 injured and out of them 6 in a critical condition.
Boeing 737-800 aircraft carrying 128 passengers departed from Istanbul’s Ataturk Airport at 0622 GMT. On reaching the Amsterdam International Airport it was seen crashing and broke into three pieces. However, a lot of lives have been saved after the disastrous crash as the plane did not catch fire. 84 injured passengers have been admitted to 11 different hospitals in the surrounding area. 3 crew members who died in the cockpit have been there for further investigations. There were 32 Dutch and 72 Turks, the nationality of the rest of the passengers were not given.
Candan Karlitekin, a member of the Turkish Airlines’ board of directors reported that the visibility at the time of landing was good. There could be a possibility of maintenance issues of the airplane. An eye witness reported that the plane was nose up and the tail section was approximately at 45 degree angle. Then the plane broke into three pieces.
Although all the flights were suspended the airport resumed its work soon. The cause of the crash is yet to be found, investigations are on, and it’s only a miracle that there were less casualties.
