The online realm witnessed a series of DOS (Denial of Service) attacks on two of the most prominent social networking websites, Facebook and Twitter along with one of the biggest names in the search industry, Google also suffering the same fate on Gmail an other Google services.
As of now the sources and the intention behind these attacks is unknown, but it has been clarified that a Georgian blogger, who is also known as ‘Cyxymu“ is believed to be the target of these attacks, as he has accounts on Twitter, Facebook LiveJournal, Google Blogger and YouTube. According to Max Kelly (Chief Security Officer),
“It was a simultaneous attack across a number of properties targeting him to keep his voice from being heard. We’re actively investigating the source of the attacks and we hope to be able to find out the individuals involved in the back end and to take action against them if we can. You have to ask who would benefit the most from doing this and think about what those people are doing and the disregard for the rest of the users and the Internet.”
During a DoS attack, several computers are instructed to visit a particular website, all at the same time, thereby burdening the website’s servers to the extent of disabling the website. Soon after Twitter was hit, Facebook and Google also suffered the DDoS attack, along with the popular blogging service, LiveJournal. The Twitter attack that has plagued the website for 24 hours now, has been attributed to the Koobface virus, that has apprently been resurrected and a given an overhaul. The Koobface virus essentially displays a “my video” page that requires the users to update their flash players, that many users usually do. After the “updation”, instead of an updated flash player, the users get the Koobface virus in their systems.
According to Facebook spokesperson,
“Earlier this morning, Facebook encountered network issues related to an apparent distributed denial of service attack, that resulted in degraded service for some users. No user data was at risk and we have restored full access to the site for most users.”
Graham Cluley, (Senior Analyst, Sophos) said,
“This seems like far too much to be a coincidence. The fact that the attacks have hit Facebook and LiveJournal as well as Twitter means that hundreds of millions more people could have been impacted by the website outages.”

I debated and said on other topic the idea of an DDoS attack because of a Georgian blogger is a joke .
and don t know it yet click here and make a scan online don t worry the link goes to a top 3 antivirus companies so not risk look this is a basic rule when you are sent by a link to a site check the address of the link and the site out .
Ask yourself why ?ok he maybe making propaganda so what ?The are making this on live tv on CNN an other post s so ?not logical
Let say he want to say something top secret they could have trace him direct not block some social network so again not logical in my opinion.
As for what made the attack possible it s the bots (zombies)=AKA Pc’s infected ,so that attack to not repeat it self the twitter, facebook etc could buy more equipotent ,more band… and the user to have updates made to windows and to have a AV that is updated regularly .
To see if you are infected with malware and are o zombie
