In the one of a kind criminal case ever to surface in any police files across the globe, a senior vice president of Island Def Jam Records, James A. Roppo has been arrested by the New York Police Department for not using the micro blogging service, Twitter.
The scene of the situation was the Roosevelt Field mall, where teenage singing sensation, Justin Bieber was scheduled to make an appearance for an album signing event of his debut album, “My World”. However, the event was abruptly canceled due to the rowdy behavior of the crowd, that numbered about 3,000 fans.
Later on, the NYPD arrested the senior vice president of Def Jam Records, James A. Roppo, stating that, the high level executive was guilty of obstructing the police efforts of crown control and he did not cooperate with the police department. The executive is expected to be charged with criminal nuisance, endangering the welfare of a minor and obstructing government administration, which are quite serious charges, that could land Mr. Roppo in a huge pile of trouble.
According to Det. Lt. Kevin Smith (Nassau County Police),
“We shut this event down. There was a public safety concern. We asked for his (Roppo’s) help in getting the crowd to go away by sending out a Twitter message. By not cooperating with us we feel he put lives in danger and the public at risk.”
The cancellation of the event proved to be extremely disappointing to the fans, especially to the female fans who had spent the night before the event camping outside the mall, anxiously waiting for the 15 yeas old singer, Justin Bieber. The singing sensation was shot to fame about two years ago, after he posted his singing videos on the online video sharing website, YouTube.
In an interview, Justin Bieber said,
“It was so crazy that I couldn’t get to even come in the building. They (the authorities) basically threatened to put me in cuffs and send me away to jail.”
