Robert J. Moore, the CEO and co-founder of RJMetrics, which is an on-demand database analytics and business intelligence start-up. The company allows online businesses to measure, manage, and monetize well. He recently analyzed Twitter users’ data and how Twitter is being used if the Social Networking site is really as successful as it seems.
New users have plateaued at 8 million per month and more than 14% of users do not have even one follower and 5% of users have 10 or fewer followers. Most people do not tweet at all and once registered, they fail to visit Twitter again. Most people who do not tweet after the second week do not remain as a long term user.
Thus, Twitter statistics may not seem all that glorious but it may be an opportunity for Twitter themselves to understand how people actually are learning and liking to use their service. This is especially important at a time when Google is contemplating about buying Twitter next year. It would be interesting to wait and watch how things might go in the near future.
