In what could be seen as a further impetus to the growing culture of Social media, British government has proposed children in primary schools be taught about Twitter and other social networks. They would be taught how to not only tweet, but also to blog, use wiki, podcast and even upload and download videos.
Though this could be seen as an alarming situation by parents who see the social media as an adult-only space, children would benefit from learning about Twitter and other networks as that would help them familiarize with a world that is ever changing thanks to Internet and Social media.
In my opinion, such an education would be what we could call complete education as that would touch upon all the aspects of a child’s learning process. You should not be surprised if your child starts to talk about Twitter, Blogging etc even if he or she is just 5 years old! I guess this is a great improvement but would force social networking companies to safeguard children from online predators.
