However, like every other website, Twitter is also facing the nightmare of spam and pornography spreading through this medium. Objectionable content is growing at an enormous rate through Twitter, thus growing concern among users, specially parents, who wish to provide their children with a clean and spam free online experience.

With these growing concerns, marketers and advertisers have requested Twitter to curb the growing spam and pornography menace. These professionals wish to reach the masses, especially families, for whom they make the products. But, as of now, Twitter hasn’t responded in nay ways to these legitimate requests.

Another social network organization, WeeWorld, took the initiative to advertise the internet, by creating a Twitter feed that sent 3,893 followers and to the WeeWorld Facebook fans, stating that they cold earn 50 bonus points for showing up at the events organized by WeeWorld as tribute to the late Michael Jackson.

Speaking on the issue of spam and pornography in Twitter, Ben Smith (CEO, MerchantCircle) said,

“The problem with this type of activity is that it undermines the trust in the communication channel, which will have a disastrous effect on the channel.”

MerchantCircle recently began a campaign via Twitter, where it distributed a portfolio of local city-specific coupons via Twitter feeds.
