The Vijay Mallya owned UB Group to spend up to 100 crores to enter the wine tourism. The plan is to enter the tourism industry through the promotion of the Four Seasons, which is the winery at Baramati in Maharashtra.
The company has planned to spend 50 crores in the winery project by this June and another 50 crores in the next few years in building vineyards, barrels and other necessities of the winery. The brand will be promoted in key wine markets like France, UK, US and Australia. The winery in Barmati is planned with luxurious rooms, recreational facilities and a pantry which can 700 people. The idea is to not only create a world class indigenous wine portfolio but also a winery known as a lifestyle destination. The target to produce a million bottles by 2010 has already been set. Local farmers have been roped in for this wine project with 49 percent of the stake being held by them for higher level of commitment. 51 percent of the Four Seasons winery will be owned by the United Spirits. Remaining will be owned by the investors who will be responsible for promoting, marketing and bringing the lifestyle concept to this ambitious project. Wide variety of wines, from red wines to sparkling wines, will be out in due course to titillate our senses.
