Thousands of U.S troops in Iraq may soon be heading home. U.S President Barack Obama plans to withdraw troops from Iraq by August 2010. Troops can heave a sign of relieve and their families can live up to their hopes.
Reports suggest that out of the 142, 000 U.S troops in Iraq, approximately 50, 000 will be stationed in Iraq till 2011. The rest will be leaving for their homeland. The formal announcement is yet to be made.
This was only an inevitable move of the government that was eagerly waited by many families and citizens. Around 4,250 soldiers have died since the U.S attack on Iraq in March 2003. The U.S President seeks to cut down on the fiscal deficit in another four years. Efforts are being made to cut down on the expenditure and sustain growth.
The crumbling economy can no more hide the massive expenditure on the war that has been going on since 2003. For restoring faith in the people, and to be the land of opportunities once again, ending of the war expenditure was only a wise and a calculated move at the start of an ambitious first budget of Barack Obama.
