It seems that the only thing that is more creative these days than the products conceived by designers is the names that they carry. The latest in this line is the ‘UVonion’; a cool and elegantly styled lighting device that not just charges up using solar panels but also emits UV light to dispense your interiors of germs. Sterilizing your home, keeping it healthy and running on green energy are the prime concerns of the UVonion. Designed by industrial designer Yun Li the idea of the UVonion is to ensure that the sterilizing properties of the sun are carried into your home’s interiors.
Powered by a solar panel and an internal rechargeable battery that spend the entire day outside charging themselves, UVonion uses an ultraviolet LED lighting to dispense that energy at night. A full day’s charge will most likely give you more than enough juice in the batteries to keep the UVonion going all night long. While the design is ergonomic and the process sleek, it is the conversion of clean energy into an air sterilization concept that has really caught our attention and could ensure that the UV onion makes its way into quite a few eco conscious homes. Here is one onion that does not force out any tears!
