Microsoft

It’s a deal between Verizon phones and Microsoft. Microsoft will be default search engine of the Verizon’s mobile web service. The official announcement came at the Consumer Electronics Show 2009 being held at Las Vegas.

What does this mean? Well there is going to be ad revenue sharing between the two giants. Microsoft will try to plough in and establish itself on cellular mobile web service while reaching out to some 70 million customer base of Verizon in US. Google has already established its reign on personal computers and some other important mobile web services and is minting gold as trends shifted to online advertising. Microsoft’s best chance to gain some ground in the ever interesting online world is only through mobile web services. This is a five year deal. It seems Microsoft elbowed out Google to clinch the deal.

Advertising world underwent sea change with the advent of internet and now with mobile web service there is bigger scope to reach more customers and increase ad revenues. Such announcements and competition over deals during recession give an extra hope that happy days will be here again…
