Germany was always a country that had many barriers for the Americans: political, economic, and linguistic and of course, the barrier of a long flight across the Atlantic. However, Berlin, the capital of Germany is one of the most popular destinations for North Americans for both work and play.
With a sizeable number of Americans living in Berlin, it should not come as a surprise that Thanksgiving is celebrated with zest and honour. The American Church in Berlin has several programs lined up for the Thanksgiving.
“Voices of Gratitude – a Cornucopia of Music” is an annual thanksgiving benefit dinner and concert. It would feature s the ACB Contemporary Choir, soloists Ben Alguso and Bernie Schmeißer. The Marriot Hotel, Joy Restaurant and the Hard Rock Cafe have all their own parties and dinners planned up. Toy Town Germany has a forum which lists all the big Thanksgiving dos.
The American colony in Berlin would see dinners and balls at the cool new casino of the Reserve Officers’ Club in Charlottenburg. Ambassador Hill will preside and Exchange Profs. Munsterberg and Smith are some of the guests who will preside the event. This Thanksgiving, Berlin surely would be one helluva place to party.
